"writing"
What kind of writing are you talking about? Penmanship? Story writing? Expressions? Structuring and presentation of thought?

Structuring and presentation of thought

I recommend that you consider conceptual maps as a brain-storming step in the writing process.

I think a good way to do this is by dissecting a piece of writing. You can do this yourself, but it would be even better to do it with other people. Find any weak points in the writing, and explain why they are weak, and find ways to make them stronger. Find places that are confusing, and explain how they can be more clear.

Participating in debates is particularly helpful. You can actually gain experience simply by watching a debate, but you'll need to think ahead of the speakers: identify weak and confusing arguments when they appear, and think of how you would attack or defend them.

Set yourself essay questions that you must answer within a time limit - this might help structuring and presentation of thought to become more intuitive.

When speaking to people, 'write down' what you are saying in your mind's eye. Attempt to avoid repetition, hesitation etc.
