getting started - first gains?
i'm new to the brain-game business, and curious as to how long it is until most people see improvement in their dual n-back scores.
i haven't played on this site yet, my friend has one of those brain workshop center things on her computer and i've played the dual n-back the past couple days.
initially i found the dual 2-back quite easy and so thought i'd be improving quickly, but as it turns out i've played the dual 3-back all three times i've played the game (about 10-15 sessions each?) and i'm pretty much at the same spot, only my average is now in the low 60's (%) instead of upper 50s.
so is improvement in this game generally made on the order of weeks instead of days? or even months? i only have this compute for another couple weeks, and i doubt i'd be motivated enough to download it to mine and keep playing if i don't see any improvement by then.
thanks!

You develop more brain connections if you play more frequently, even if your score doesn't improve. I actually play till I reach 70% for a few days and then move up a level and periodically go back. It's good to try out the more difficult levels early on. It may take a few days after practicing for your brain to make the adjustments that result in an improved score. I enjoy playing first thing in the morning and right before I go to sleep. I've gotten over blocks from the night before that way. I think in the morning I'm most attentive and effortful. I'd say if you practice as much as possible it takes about a week to move up. Practice more than one level so you also practice levels you are close to 100% on.
