Memory Games
(this is related to the previous topic I started)
There is evidence that the L-IFG (left inferior frontal gyrus) performs a domain general process necessary for task-switching, resolving interference between similar memories, and some aspects of verbal memory.
The easiest way to exercise the L-IFG may be to play memory games in which the stimuli are easily conflated. The best example I've read about was an N-back task in which the selection of stimuli was biased so that when there was no match between current stimulus and Nth-back stimulus 33 % of the time there would be a match between the current stimulus and the N+1th back stimulus, and 33 % of the time there would be a match between the current stimulus and the N-1th back stimulus. Other examples I've seen involved list memorization tasks in which recognition memory was tested and critical lures were used (e.g. subjects would be asked whether the items that appeared on a previous list, but not the current list, were on the current list.)
With that said, Does anyone know of online or downloadable memory games that emphasize the resolution of interference between memories?
