"Hearing lips and seeing voices" - the McGurk effect
Did you know that your perception of speech can be strongly influenced by what you see? This means that depending on what the speaker's lips show (or don't), you may actually hear something different, even though they are saying the same thing. This is known as the McGurk effect.
Watch the video, comparing what you hear when watching Arnte speak, and when listening with your eyes closed. If you visit the YouTube page, there is a link to the same video featured on a Japanese TV show, with the mouth covered up for you, as well as a couple done by others; I merely linked to the oldest one.
